20 years of enthusiasm and innovation
Success is based on a vision. For the realization of this vision, enthusiasm, power of will, diligence, personality and energy are needed. Permanent success requires persistence and constant readiness for innovations. Looking at the company’s successful history, aluplast has these attributes in abundance.
The aluplast group today has 750 employees and belongs to the top flight of national and international extrusion companies for pvc profiles. It all began in 1982 with the foundation of a small extrusion company with 28 employees and heavy financial burdens.
Continuous input in development and techniques, together with strategic takeovers of competitive companies, provoked a parallel growth of the know-how and the overall skills of our employees, production and storage capacity. These values and our strong customer-oriented philosophy are the basis for a successful future of the aluplast group.
1982: Foundation of aluplast in Ettlingen
With the foundation of aluplast GmbH in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe, Manfred J. Seitz provided a basis for the development of the aluplast group. At that time he was head of the department of window profiles at the US company “Elbatainer”. When that department was to be spun off from the Schmalbach-Lubeca group, Mr. Seitz took the chance and took over the business via “management buy out”.
1989: Setup and company takeover
aluplast buys “Golde” (Bavarian company) and takes over its double seal sytem Golde Ideal. The number of employees increases from 28 to 70 employees.
1990: First success and expansion
To accommodate of the ongoing expansion, new buildings are purchased in Ettlingen. The production and storage capacity increases from 4,000 m² to now 7,000 m²; the number of employees grows to 80.
1994: The success story begins
With the presentation of the double seal system IDEAL 2000
at the “Fensterbau” in Nürnberg, aluplast now owns a modern plastic window profile system that seriously competes with established manufacturers’ products . The production and storage capacity grows to 8.000 m²; the number of employees is now 140.
1995: The success has a system
At the “Fensterbau” fair in Stuttgart, aluplast presents the center seal system IDEAL 3000. The system has been created in a way that almost all glazing bead, additional profiles, sealing, reinforcements and the appurtenances from IDEAL 2000 can be used as well. This compatibility helps to save production and storage costs and reduces complexity when double and center seal system are processed at the same time. A plant is founded in Poland. Production and storage capacity of the group: 11,000 m²; Number of employees: 150.
1996: Systematic extension of the product program
The two IDEAL window systems are very successful. So aluplast decides to extend it’s product program. A new Rolling shutter box system and a sliding window system are developed. The production and storage capacity grows to 14,500 m²; the number of employees is now 165.
1997: Expansion to Austria
With the purchase of INTERTEC aluplast becomes the market leader in Austria. The company is taken over by Greiner (extrusion tools).
1998: Expansion in Germany
aluplast buys another site in Ettlingen, which includes production and office buildings (former company BIC).
1999: New buildings, expansion and technical progress
At the “Fensterbau” in Stuttgart the new double seal system IDEAL 4000 is presented. To meet even higher standards, the system has an increased depth of 70 mm as well as extraordinary insulation ability. Many aspects of the system are compatible with the systems IDEAL 2000 and 3000. The potential for expansion in Ettlingen is depleted. A new production plant, with an are of 65,000 m², is built in Karlsruhe right next to interstate A5.
2000: New window systems for the future
At the “Fensterbau” in Nürnberg the center seal system IDEAL 5000/IDEAL6000 is presented. With a depth of 70 and 80 mm it achieves the highest standards for insulation and design. aluplast takes over the extrusion division of Forbo Helmitin.
2001: Development of systems for today and tomorrow
A solid house must be built on a strong basis. At the “Fensterbau” in Stuttgart, aluplast presents the lift and sliding-door system of IDEAL 4000. aluplast takes over the extrusion division of OSMO . The number of employees has grown to 750.
2002: 20 years of aluplast: a success story for 20 years
In the year of its 20th anniversary aluplast definitely has a reason to celebrate. The “career of the company is seen as extraordinary not only by the German market but also by European profile system-extruding companies” (Bauelemente Bau, September 2002). With over 800 employees in the whole business group and a disposal of 64,000 tons of plastics per year, aluplast has become number five in the industry.
aluplast Poland also has a reason to celebrate: the Polish association, who is the indisputable leader of the polish market, move into their new offices and put their new storage space into use.
Not forgetting the company objectives , aluplast provides a basis for future success and growth in 2002 with the presentation of the new window system Signum 70 and shutter lamellas with a micro-perforation .
2003: Still expanding in the booming European markets
aluplast strengthens its position in the fast growing eastern European markets by buying Plus Plan A Division in Great Britain and another extension of a production plant in Russia.
In addition to the new system IDEAL 4000 block profiles NL, aluplast tops off its product range with the a new external shutter box system made of plastics in round-line design.
2004: The step over the 100,000 ton mark
In this year aluplast presents 4 product innovations: the double seal system Nordline, the Lift and Sliding Tilt door system, the folding shutter with a depth of 48 mm and the system aluplast 60 mm and 70 mm that were developed especially for the British market.
The growth of aluplast, which is unique in the branch, and the success in the eastern European markets in particular attracts attention from the television industry at the start of the year: on the occasion of the entry of ten eastern European countries to the EU, the business magazine “plusminus” (on ARD) introduces aluplast to millions of people during prime time in a broadcast about German companies operating successfully in the eastern markets.
With, in the meantime, more than 1,000 employees Europe-wide, aluplast succeeds in crossing the 100,000 ton mark and strengthens its position in the top five of the branch by the end of the year.
2005: Impressive demonstration of innovative power
At the beginning of 2005, aluplast, which has already become a German holding company, makes another historical step forward. After the relocation of the headquarters from Ettlingen to Karlsruhe in 2004, 100 employees move into the new administration building in January 2005.
For the first time aluplast extrudes profiles in the Ukraine and in Italy: the company strengthens its position in the Italian market with the take-over of the Italian company Deltaplast. The foundation of aluplast Ukraine sets the stage for successful work in the huge Ukrainian market.
aluplast gives additional impressive proof of its innovative power in 2005: the development of pane bonding, which is filed as a patent and allows the stabilization of the sash without the currently required steel. This is unique not only in the German market but also in the European market.
